These filters prevent the dissolution of silicon, which can cause deposition, scaling, and corrosion in the primary coolant system, significantly reducing the risks of core meltdown and axial offset anomaly (AOA). They are the only silicon-free filter cartridges approved by EDF for use in its nuclear power plants.
